Staff Development - Kianda School

Kianda Value Added Teacher Training (KVATT) 2019

Building up qualified staff is an integral area in our mandate as Kianda school. It’s also a fundamental area of focus in our Strategic Plan 2018-2022. In that regard therefore, we continually aim at providing our teachers with skills and techniques to help them handle the 21st century students.

This year, the KVATT program commenced on Saturday 26th January. It will run for five Saturdays. The training includes sessions on Things Good Teachers Do, Schemes of Work, Blooms Taxonomy, Incorporating ICT in Teaching and Learning, Bopps Technique, Teaching Squares – sharing Best Teaching practices and Formative Assessment.

Themed ‘Sharpening the Saw’ according to Ms Evelyn Khamati, Vice Principal Academics,  the sessions learning outcomes are to help the teachers reach excellence in their teaching subjects. Teachers are expected to discover how to vary stratagems to trigger the learners’ minds and getting the students to be fully engaged in the lessons.  The facilitators include Miss Evelyn Khamati, Miss Lynda Odiara, Miss Angela Atonga, Mrs. Cecilia Odiwour, Mrs. Bernadette Kiarie, Mrs. Phyllis Omwando, Mrs. Monica Wairua, Mrs. Grace Waireri and Mrs. Celestine Omukhulu.

Staff Seminar 4th January
